Continuing Professional Development

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

The College recognizes that continuing professional development (CPD) is important to ongoing practice improvement for physicians.

The Medical Act, 2011 mandates that all licensed physicians participate in a program of continuing medical education. College registrants are required to be members of either the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) for CME/CPD purposes.

All physicians who wish to obtain or renew their licenses to Practise Medicine are required to provide their CCFP/Royal College membership numbers on CPSNL annual renewal forms, which forms are sent to members in October of each year. Annual renewal forms must be returned to the College no later than January of the year for which the licence is being renewed.
